Auction Records

The IPL auction for the first time was held outside India, specifically at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, UAE on 19th December 2023.

Mitchell Starc became the most expensive player in IPL history, joining the Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping ₹24.75 crore (US$3.1 million).

New Rule

This season introduces a new playing condition that bowlers will be allowed to deliver two bouncers per over. This change was trialled during the 2023–24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India's domestic T20 tournament.
